Terms of Service

Shadow Stats reads structured cricket scorecard files uploaded by clubs and turns them into phase analysis, player KPIs, form trends, match-ups, workload tracking, and printable player reports, made available through a web dashboard to coaching staff at the subscribing club.

The service is provided to clubs, leagues, and academies on a subscription basis, as described on our pricing page.

• Each subscription belongs to one club. Coaching logins under that subscription are managed by the club's designated administrator.
• You are responsible for the accuracy of information provided during onboarding and for keeping login credentials confidential.
• You are responsible for ensuring that anyone you invite to a coaching login is authorised by the club to view its players' data.
• By submitting scorecards and player information to the platform, your club confirms it has the right to do so, including, where relevant, appropriate authorisation for the processing of information relating to junior players. See our Club Data Processing Addendum for the full detail on this.

• Month-to-month. Billed monthly, cancel at the end of any month.
• Full season. Billed once for the October to April season.
• Setup and data load. A once-off fee covering onboarding of your club, logins, and up to one past season of historical matches.
• Off-season vault. An optional reduced-rate tier that keeps your data live and readable between seasons, with no setup fee to resume.

Subscription payments are processed by Paystack or PayFast. We do not store your card details. Prices are in South African Rand and inclusive of VAT unless stated otherwise. Fees are non-refundable except where required by law or expressly stated at the time of purchase.

If a payment fails or lapses, we may suspend access to the dashboard until the account is brought current; your data is not deleted while an account is merely suspended for non-payment.

Your club owns its scorecards and everything Shadow Stats derives from them, including the dashboard views, leaderboards, and player reports. This is not merely a courtesy: it is a binding commitment, and is set out in full in our Club Data Processing Addendum, which also covers export and deletion on cancellation.

We do not claim ownership of your club's match or player data, and we do not use it for any purpose beyond providing the service to your club, except in de-identified, aggregated form as described in the Addendum.

You agree not to:

• Use the platform to process data you are not authorised to process
• Attempt to access another club's account, data, or reports
• Attempt to interfere with, reverse-engineer, or disrupt the platform's operation
• Use the service for any unlawful purpose

We do not guarantee that analytics are free from error. They depend on the accuracy and completeness of the scorecards submitted. Workload figures, in particular, reflect overs bowled as recorded and are not a medical or fitness assessment.

The Shadow Stats platform, its software, design, and analytical methodology remain our intellectual property. Your club is granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the platform and its outputs for your own coaching and administrative purposes for the duration of your subscription. This does not extend to your club's own data, which you own as set out in section 4 above.

We aim to keep the platform available and performing well, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may perform maintenance, updates, or fixes that cause brief downtime, and will aim to keep disruption to a minimum, especially during the playing season.

To the maximum extent permitted by South African law:

• We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential loss, including loss arising from selection, coaching, or player-management decisions made using the platform's analytics.
• We do not guarantee that all data will be parsed without error, particularly for scorecard formats we have not previously encountered.
• Our total liability for any claim arising from your use of the platform is limited to the subscription fees paid by your club in the twelve months preceding the claim.

Nothing in these Terms limits any right or protection that cannot lawfully be excluded, including under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 or POPIA.

• You may cancel a month-to-month subscription at the end of any billing month.
• A full-season subscription runs its agreed term; the season closes on 1 April.
• On cancellation, your data is not deleted. You may request a full export of your matches and player reports at any time, and your history remains available if you move to the off-season vault.
• We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these Terms, including unauthorised use or non-payment, on reasonable notice where practicable.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and any dispute is subject to the jurisdiction of the [relevant High Court / Division].

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date, and, where reasonably practicable, communicated to active subscribers before taking effect.
